While there is currently no licensing process or accredited degree program, hypnotherapists can pursue professional certification through either the American Council of Hypnotist Examiners,which has been largely responsible for the “recognition and regulation of hypnotherapy training in the USA,” or the National Guild of Hypnotists.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics includes hypnotherapists among practitioners of alternative medicine and states that the field of health care in general is one of the fastest growing industries and will bring 3 million new jobs between 2006 and 2016. It also states that alternative care sites are on the rise. This facts indicate that a career as a hypnotherapist will enjoy growth and promises of success over the coming years.
